About Me
My Approach
About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), a Canadian Certified Counsellor, a Certified Anxiety-Informed Professional, and the founder/owner of Centre of Care Psychotherapy. Over the years, I have worked in different settings, including private practice, a high school, and within the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as a mental health therapist. In private practice, I worked primarily with adults with anxiety disorders and depression as well as younger adults dealing with life transitions, gender identity, and ADHD.

In addition, I spent two years working full-time with Indigenous youths who struggled with depression, anxiety, substance use, suicidality, trauma, and crisis. This experience helped me develop my empathetic skills while increasing my understanding of cultural diversity, specifically as it relates to Indigenous realities and the effects of intergenerational trauma. Working in the EAP setting, I used a solution-focused approach to set goals with adults struggling with burnout, depression, grief, stress, and anxiety.

My Approach

Each client is unique in how they feel, think, see, and experience the world around them. Based on these points, I strive to meet clients’ individual needs and worldviews by working collaboratively to set attainable and manageable goals throughout therapy. The lens I work from incorporates social, cultural, emotional, and psychological aspects relevant to clients’ diverse backgrounds. I use a blended approach to offer best practices for my clients and have training in evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, Gottman's Couples Therapy, and solution-focused therapy, to name a few.

I provide a safe and supportive therapeutic environment in which clients feel understood, heard, and validated, free of judgment or stigmas. To ensure professional competence and a high standard of care, I provide ethically sound therapeutic services to all clients with diverse backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions and cultures by honouring clients’ self-agency and self-respect. I have so much to learn about each client’s cultural interpretation and experience, so I choose to enter every new working relationship with an open mind to create an inclusive environment.
